Borealis Daniel Hill
This album is in the vein of Topos (2007), working to encode the cognitive/emotional/mind space of the Aegean islands into a sonic experience to be revisited anytime and anywhere. Having grown up on one of the Great Lakes, Hill enjoyed walks in the northern woods and have found these walks to be of enormous benefit for creative thinking and problem solving. Now in the city, this is a sonic memory of a walk in the northern woods. It is meant to be only marginally noticed, more as a suggestion, a kind of low-resolution cognitive architecture on which the listener may finish the picture and bring forth the high-resolution thinking that is the result of sustained concentration within some activity like thinking, walking, reading, or creativity.
Boreas, Βορέας, Boréas was the Greek god of the cold north wind and the bringer of winter.
Instruments: Field Recordings (found and made), electric bass, analog synthesizer, digital synthesizer, hand and digital percussion, electric guitar, sonic sculpting.
Composed, recorded, and mixed by Daniel Hill, 2016-2019
